WHO: Ishida & Yuuko
WHAT: Ishida meets the school’s ghost

[Seikyou Academy has little to boast about. A small school in a small town, it has no reputation to speak of. No one has probably even heard of it outside of the mountain. The one thing it has, the one thing it is famous for (within the town) is mysteries. According to students and teachers, the school is a hotbed of paranormal activity — ghosts, curses, anything you can think of.

The most famous of all is Yuuko-san. The legend says that she was a student at the academy many years ago who was abducted into the spirit world, disappearing without a trace. At the same time, she now haunts the halls of the school. Numerous inexplicable events have been attributed to her meddling. The old school building is widely known to be hers, and nobody goes there except for tests of courage.

The legends are true. To an extent, at least. Seikyou Academy does have a ghost.

Shinigami have not been to this town since the plague that killed half of the townspeople. They've got larger, more important places to worry about. And so for 50 years the school, its ghost and its mysteries have been left alone.

But perhaps that now will change.]

[The start of school is Yuuko's favorite time of the year. Everything is new and exciting; everything abounds with promise. Every year for the past fifty years, she's put on the current fashion of school uniform and mingled with the new students, hoping that someone will see her, notice her, remember her. That nobody ever has doesn't deter her. This could always be the year.

Yet even with her yearning and desperate hope, she almost doesn't notice the transfer student, or the way he says I have my eye on you. Because he can't be talking to her. It's not until a chill comes over her, as though someone was walking over her bones, that she turns around and sees him staring at her.

At her. Right at her. Not above her. Not around her. Not through her.

He can see me.]

[Of course, even with chaos of a new semester, a transfer student is going to draw some eyes, and eventually someone, seeing him staring so intently at nothing in particular, does interrupt, asking him if he's lost, but though he turns away, brushing them off, he does cast one more glance - again, right at her - over his shoulder before moving off. She's quite mistaken if she thinks she won't be seeing more of him.]

[Oh, she doesn't think that at all. If this guy can see her — actually, really see her — then Yuuko doesn't want to let him go anywhere.]

Wait!

[She pushes through the crowd of students who don't notice her and chases after him.]

[He doesn't stop for her, doesn't wait, despite what she calls out to him... but he slows down, enough that she can catch up, that she can speak to him, though even as she reaches his side, he remains tight-lipped. Too many around them that might overhear.]

[He seems to be on course for remedying that, heading towards a deserted part of the school, but for now, at least, Yuuko has a chance to say something to him first.]
