Setting: after the City

THE GIST
When the door out ofpoly_chromatic is finished, Korra invites Hei to join her in her world. He brings a few other people along with him.

[Meditation doesn't work for Korra. Jinora tried telling Tenzin that, but he gets really defensive of his teaching methods. (Then again, she's getting used to her family dismissing her. They kind of gave up on her around the third time that she insisted that Unalaq almost killed her in what is, to her, the past. Jinora has found that things work out better if she doesn't say much.)]

No, I just wondered. Dad told me to find you and I thought you'd be together. [It's tempting to tease Korra a little about her boyfriend, but Jinora's heart isn't in it today.] He's pretty mad.

You say that like we're always together. [A little grumpy. She hardly sees Hei these days but people seem to act like she's constantly blowing off her responsibilities for him. (She may be projecting a little.) She flinches a little when Jinora says that Tenzin is mad, resenting his anger even as she knows it's kinda warranted.]

[bookbending]

I don't know who you spend your time with anymore. [Not with Jinora. The eleven year-old has been spending more time with Hei than with Korra because of the language lessons, and Korra's... well, busy being the Avatar. Maybe she still hangs out with her friends from Republic City.

The girl sighs.] He's been mad a lot lately. It's not just you. I think he's worried.

[anatural]

[Korra reaches out to tug Jinora onto her lap. She's a lot cuddlier now than she had been before the City, maybe because you never knew when someone might leave.]

I'm not going anywhere. He needs to stop worrying.

[bookbending]

[The girl let's herself relax, just for a moment. She feels a lot closer to Korra than she did before the City; she's the only one who gets everything.]

I don't think he can stop worrying. [She frowns thoughtfully.] We disappeared. Maybe he's afraid it'll happen again.

[anatural]

[She sighs, biting back an urge to snap I know that.]

Worrying isn't going to change whether or not that happens.

[bookbending]

When has that ever stopped him?

[SIGH. Tenzin: World's Best Worrier.]

[anatural]

Never. But we can't keep going on like this.

[bookbending]

We have to. We can't change what happened or the way Dad is, so we have to keep going.

[anatural]

[Korra shakes her head.] Something has to change.

[bookbending]

It will. We just have to be patient.

[anatural]

So we just wait? For how long? Shouldn't we be trying to change things ourselves?
