Right now, Chekov just wants to know what's going on, attempt to contact the Enterprise, and wash off the blood and grime. It seems rather counterproductive to stand around arguing about his living arrangements when there are exceedingly powerful people after Korra.
Also, he isn't going to shave his head. He needs his hair to remain on his head so he can continue being adorable.]
